The motif on the 2023 TCS Lidingö race medal, which all participants receive at the finish line, is Carl Milles' statue "Stegrande häst" ((1948).
Throughout his life, Carl Milles (1875-1955) has returned to animals as motifs. He observed in detail their expressions and movement patterns and placed great importance on their symbolic meaning.
For Milles, horses represented an energetic power animal that takes on all challenges in its path with pride and courage. "Rearing horse" is an example of a late sculpture where Milles moved towards a more modern and geometric design language than before, which can be seen in the simplified mane, ponytail and angular plant stems.

Carl Emil Wilhelm Milles, born Andersson the 23th of June 1875 in Lagga (Knivsta municipality), died 19 September 1955 on Lidingö, was a Swedish sculptor. Carl Milles was active mainly in Europe, but for a long time also in the United States. He is known for his fountains and other works in large-scale format.
